Secretary General Laidmets participates in the meeting of Asia-Europe Foundation in Singapore

The Secretary General Mart Laidmets participates in the 40th Asia-Europe Foundation meeting in Singapore on 13. - 14. June. The meeting will focus on education, culture, governance, economy and sustaniability issues.

„The cooperation between Europe and Asia is growing and Estonia has number of opportunities. ASEF is great platform for Estonian education and arts institutions to find partners from Asia for international cooperation projects,” said Laidmets. 

ASEF, established in 1996, is intergovernmental organization, that promotes development of relations through different projects between European and Asian countries. To date, ASEF has helped to facilitate more than 650 projects. Estonia is part of ASEF from 2004 and there have been number of projects – summer schools, lectures and youth exchanges.

The Secretary General participates at the meeting for the first time, previously Estonia has been represented by ambassadors and representatives of universities.

Estonia Enhances Fulbright Cooperation with U.S. Department of State

On August 30, 2019, the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research and the United States Embassy in Tallinn modified the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Fulbright Academic Exchange Program. The amendment to the MoU, which was originally signed in Tallinn in 2007 and extended in 2015, further enhances cooperation between educational, scientific, and research institutions in the United States and Estonia; allocates additional resources for Fulbright scholarships and academic exchanges for Estonian scholars and students in special fields of interest; and promotes mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.
