The Delegation of the Ministry of Education and Research of Estonia and Estonian start-up companies visit Singapore this week

The Delegation of the Ministry of Education and Research of Estonia and Estonian start-up companies visit Singapore this week. The aim of the visit is to introduce solutions for faster innovation in education by Estonian educational technology start-ups. Number of meetings with the Singapore’s Ministry of Education, local educational leaders and educational companies take place during the visit.

“Estonia’s and Singapore’s top education systems are great examples in the world. Estonia’s success story lies heavily on our educational leaders’ openness to new and innovative solutions that help to make teaching and learning more effective. We seek to share Estonia’s experiences and introduce our innovative solutions during the visit,” said the Secretary General Mr Mart Laidmets.

Today, on 10th June the delegation will meet Estonia’s Honorary Consul Mr Sonny Aswani.

Tomorrow, on 11th June the delegation will meet the management of Singapore’s Ministry of Education to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation as well as the digital transformation in education. Additionally, the delegation will visit the NEXUS International School, the School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA) and the National Gallery Singapore.

In the evening of 11th June, the networking reception in cooperation with SGInnovate takes place. The reception focuses on the Estonian model towards educated and enterprising future with emphasis on the digital transformation in Estonia’s education.

On 12th June the meetings in the Singapore’s Ministry of Education on school leadership and technology in education will continue. After that, the delegation will meet the managements of the Singapore Repertory Theatre for Academy of Music and Theatre and Art University, LASALLE College, the Singapore Polytechnic and the National University of Singapore.

On 13th June the Estonia-Singapore Startup Meetup at VIVITA Singapore takes place. The meet-up offers chance to get to know about Estonian education sector, the Estonian startup ecosystem, e-Residency Programme, business opportunities in Estonia and introduction of Estonia’s educational startups.

OECD: Vocational education is popular among people older than 25 in Estonia

Education at a Glance 2020, a collection of education statistics recently published by the OECD, highlights that the Estonian vocational education system stands out for its accessibility to both first-time students and adults looking to add to their skills. In total, 77% of all students aged 25+ at the upper secondary level of study are in vocational education.
