Management

The Ministry of Education and Research is headed by the Secretary General and four Deputy Secretary Generals.

Secretary General

In addition to the overall management of the Ministry’s affairs, the Secretary General is responsible for directing the work of deputy secretary generals and departments of the Ministry as well as co-ordinating the work of state institutions and government bodies under the Ministry’s sphere of administration. The departments of  Legal Policy, External Evaluation, Personnel Policy, Strategy and Finance and also EU and International Cooperation are directly subordinate to the Secretary-General.

Renno Veinthal

Deputy Secretary General for Research and Development, Higher Education and Adult Education Policy

The Deputy Secretary General is responsible for fields of research, higher education and adult education and is directly in charge of the departments of Research and Development, Higher Education, Adult Education and Skills.

The tasks of the Deputy Secretary General are described in the Statutes of the Ministry of Education and Research.

Henry Kattago

Deputy Secretary General for Assets

The Deputy Secretary General is responsible for fields of e-services and state assets and is directly in charge of the General Administration Department, State Schools Department, Technology Management Department, Education Infrastructure and Network Department, Information Technology Infrastructure Department and
Education Information Systems Department.

The tasks of the Deputy Secretary General are described in the Statutes of the Ministry of Education and Research.

Kairi Kaldoja

Deputy Secretary General for Language Policy

The Deputy Secretary General of Language Policy coordinates the language policy area within the ministry's administration. Directly subordinate to her are the Transition to Estonian-Language Education Department and the Language Policy Department, Communications Department and Analysis Department.

Vallo Koppel

Deputy Secretary General for General Education and Youth Policy

The Deputy Secretary General is responsible for fields of general education and youth affairs and is directly in charge of the areas of general education and youth and talent policy.
