Uniform basic school final examinations

Normally, in order to graduate from basic school, a student must receive at least a „satisfactory” result in Estonian or Estonian as a second language exam, mathematics exam and in one exam of his / her choice. The optional examination can be taken in Russian, biology, chemistry, physics, geography, history, social studies or in English, French, German or Russian as a foreign language.
In addition, in order to graduate from basic school, a student must carry out a creative project in their third stage of study.

In the 2019/2020 academic year, passing the final examinations is not a requirement for graduating from basic school. There will be no uniform basic school final examinations and school examinations conducted in this academic year.

Estonian as a second language (B1)

The Estonian language as a second language exam in conducted by the SA Innove on June 8-10, 2020. This exam is for students who according to the National Curriculum of the basic school have the right to take Estonian language as a second language exam instead of the Estonian language exam.
Passing this exam is voluntary and is not a condition for graduating from basic school.
SA Innove informs the student of the results of the exam no later than 30 days after the exam.

Creative project

In the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 academic year, the student does not have to carry out a creative project, if the school council decides it  is not possible due to the emergency situation.
