The number of students studying according to higher education curricula has increased 2.7 times in the 2008/2009 academic year, compared to 1994/1995 – growing from 25,000 to 68,000.

Students are admitted to both state-commissioned and non-state-commissioned study places. The ratio of students in state-commissioned and non-state-commissioned study places has changed significantly over the years. During the 2008/2009 academic year, the number of students engaged in state-commissioned education constitutes 46% of all students.
